What is Magnesium Stearate...and why is it in most of our supplements these day??

Magnesium Stearate - What is it?

 Magnesium Stearate
 Magnesium stearate in supplements
Magnesium stearate is a white substance, solid at room temperature, used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical and supplement tablets and capsules. It is composed of magnesium and stearic acid, and oftentimes, palmitic acid as well.

Why do so Many Companies add it to Their Supplements?

The primary role of magnesium stearate in supplements is to act as a lubricant to prevent tablet and capsule contents from sticking to the machinery that processes them. This ensures that production machinery can operate at maximum speeds and profit targets can be met. In other words, it is primarily used for financial reasons. Read a detailed explanation of magnesium stearate’s role as a lubricant in manufacturing facilities.

What are the Pros and Cons of Magnesium Stearate?

Pros

The pros are for manufacturers that want to improve profit margins. It is far more costly and time-intensive to produce supplements without magnesium stearate.

Cons

Reduction of dissolution time

It is commonly noted in medical literature that magnesium stearate increases the time it takes for tablets and capsules to dissolve due to the film it forms on capsule or tablet ingredients. Magnesium stearate coats a good portion of the molecules in a tablet or capsule, requiring digestive enzymes to break down the magnesium stearate coating before being able to access the nutrients it envelops.
In a study published in the journal Pharmaceutical Technology (April, 1985), the percent dissolution for capsules after 20 minutes in solution went from 90% without stearates to 25% with stearates. In other words, stearates reduced the rate the capsule dissolved by 65%! This may result in the nutrients not dissolving in the appropriate section of the intestines as intended. We are particularly concerned about individuals with impaired digestion who may have more difficulty absorbing nutrients coated with magnesium stearate.

Are There Metal Catalysts in Your Supplement?

Hydrogenated oils are a common source for the magnesium stearate used in pharmaceuticals and supplements. The stearates are made by hydrogenating cottonseed or palm oil. Cottonseed oil has the highest content of pesticide residues of all commercial oils; cotton crops are heavily sprayed. In the hydrogenation process, the oil is subjected to high heat and pressure in the presence of a metal catalyst for several hours, creating a hydrogenated saturated fat. Hydrogenated vegetable fats contain altered molecules derived from fatty acids. According to Udo Erasmus in Fats and Oils, the metal catalyst used in the hydrogenation process may also contaminate the stearates produced.

Contamination

Is your supplement contaminated?
Are your supplements contaminated?
In December 2011 The World Health Organization reported that several batches of magnesium stearate were cross-contaminated with zeolite (sodium aluminium silicate), calcium hydroxide, dibenzoylmethane, bisphenol A and Irganox 1010. While some of these substances may not be harmful, as is the case with zeolite, others are known to be harmful, such as bisphenol A (BPA). The industrial chemical BPA is an endocrine disruptor and has been found to have other harmful effects. The European Union has banned its use in baby bottles and several consumer groups in the U.S. have petitioned the FDA to ban its use in food containers. But whether or not the contaminants found in the magnesium stearate are benign or harmful is not the issue. The issue is that it was contaminated at all.

Detoxing Ionic Foot Baths

I want to share some of my findings on -       The Ionic Foot Baths....

Ionic Foot Baths are known to bring your body back to a state of harmony and balance!

People are beginning to love the effects of ionic foot baths; many people find themselves more relaxed and relieved of tension and stress.

Several questions have been raised -

So people are going to a foot spa to get a ionic foot bath...to detox?  What is an ionic foot bath and how does it work?

Here is one explanation that I found (hang with me here):

A negative ion is an atom that has lost or gained one or more electrons causing it to become negatively charged (remember science class?). This negative ion is smaller than a molecule which allows it to be easily absorbed by the body through the process of osmosis. The scientific term of Osmosis is used to describe the movement of particles through a membrane from a higher concentration to a lower concentration(like the cell of the body with sodium and potassium).
In this case the higher concentration refers to the negative ions produced by the ion field that is
set up by placing the array into the water.

All Detox Foot Baths operate through a process called electrolysis. This is done by generating the proper amount of current in the foot bath water causing the molecules of H2O to divide producing negative ions. Once the negative ions are present in the water, the body absorbs these ions through osmosis
The Ionic Foot Spas generate millions of these negative ions during the foot bath session. This causes the body to absorb as many negative ions as possible. You could compare this process to a fully charged battery. When it has been fully charged it can not absorb anymore energy.

All foreign matter such as harmful chemicals, heavy metals, parasites, and others are all positively charged. The negative ion seeks out a positive molecule to attach to. Once attached to these foreign substances the body can readily eliminate them naturally through its own natural processes . This is the reason why a person should only do a foot bath session 2 or 3 times a week. Some of the impurities are transferred through the feet during the detox foot bath session, however, once the body has absorbed such a high amount of negative ions it begins to eliminate these toxins naturally over a period of days.

How the Foot Spa set up works

The array goes into the water with the feet, and the power supply delivers a small amount of direct current into the array. When used for feet, this array in a container of water is the ionic foot bath. The electrical charge causes the molecules of the metals within the array, in combination with the water and other elements in the water, to divide thus generating positive and negative ions. This also produces oxygen and hydrogen to be released into the air all while you are being treated  by the ionic foot bath, this is part of the chemistry that takes place when you divide the molecule H2O.

When experiencing the detox foot bath, you will see the water change color as the electrical current, water, and magnetic field interact with your feet. While the water would change color by itself due to the impurities in the water and the metals in the array, the colors are noticeably different with feet in the foot spa after a 30 minute treatment.

The Ionic foot baths have been know to improves and balances the body's energy channels or meridians.  It will help change and balance the body's pH.  Balancing the body's pH is critical in assisting the body in every aspect - from its ability to detoxify, to heal and its ability to digest properly.

Some people with issues like pain, edema, gout, headaches and swollen joints have reported immediate relief.  Other patients with arthritis, allergies, lymphedema, neuralgia, and other symptoms have experienced relief and benefits with multiple treatments.

Healthy individuals can expect to feel lighter, have more energy, and experience a greater feeling of well-being.  Some people might experience fatigues as the body's detoxification process accelerates itself.  This will balance itself as the body expels the toxins and regenerates itself.

A recommended guideline to start with a detox process is to have 6 foot baths in a 3 week period.  Then drop to 4-6 foot baths in a 4 week period.  After the initial foot bath series of 7 weeks, individuals should detox one time a month, to achieve the best overall health due to all the toxins around us on a daily basis.

We are beginning to provide The Ionic Foot Bath Detox at Take A New Approach Health & Wellness Center.  the treatments last for 30 minutes and  cost a dollar a minute for a total of $30.00!  Come buy and see what all we are offering... or check out the web site @ www.TakeANewApproach.com   See you soon!

WARNING - Read this & Check your toothpaste

You might just want to take a second look at your tube of toothpaste and consider avoiding fluoride altogether!  Why ?

Have we paid attention to the "warning signs" or are we all to preoccupied with the latest _____________ (you fill in the blank).

Since April, 1997, all toothpaste containing fluoride in the US must carry a WARNING label advising parents what to do if their child swallows more than the pea-sized brushing amount.

There is a good reason for that warning - one tube of toothpaste actually contains enough fluoride to kill a two-year old child.  The FDA listed fluoride as an "unapproved new drug" and the EPA list fluoride as a "contaminant".  Fluoride has NEVER received "FDA Approval".  It has been linked to fluorosis in children, acne, Alzheimer's, kidney damage, gastrointestinal problems, cancer, genetic damage, neurological impairment, bone and tooth decay, and others.

I have always wondered why do they put a known Nuro-Toxin it in our water supply?  Just to prevent tooth decay?   You think?   Do they really care that much about our teeth?

Wouldn't you think education on healthy eating and cavity causing food stuff - like avoiding sugary substances would be a lot easier that polluting our drinking water with a corrosive waste product?  Since Sodium Fluoride is a Nuro-Toxin and a waste by product of the manufacture of Aluminum, why do we need to ingest it into our bodies? To prevent cavities....???

Have you ever taken the time to research what is fluoride and where it came from and why is it in our water supply?  just something to think about and might be worth your time for yours and your child's safety...

That is why I carry a fluoride free toothpaste in my product line along with other safe and healthy products.  If you can't get to my office then go to your local health food store others and look for products that are available.... if you decide that you might want to use one after reading this alarming information and doing your own research.

Studies are finding that using Chlorella for Reducing Allergies

Chlorella is building a name for itself as a nutrient that can help boost the function and competence of your immune system.  Previously, I reported on various studies showing that chlorella can help boost the germ fighting ability of a depressed immune system.  Several new studies show that chlorella helps restore immune system efficiency, offsetting the type of immune imbalance that occurs in individuals prone to allergy problems.
The first is a cell study that tested the antihistamine properties of chlorella.  Animal mast cells were chemically stimulated to provoke an allergic histamine release.  Chlorella prevented the release of histamine.  Chlorella also bolstered immune signaling (interleukin-12 and interferon-γ) that boosts the T-helper 1 response, thereby helped lower an allergic excess T-helper 2 response.  This directly resulted in less production of IgE (allergy-associated antibody production).
Another human study found similar T-helper 1 boosting by chlorella.  In this randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled trial 5,000 mg of chlorella was given to healthy individuals.  Once again, the interleukin-12 and interferon-γ levels increased, supporting better T-helper 1 immunity.  This led to an increase in natural killer cells, which fight infection and kill cancer cells.
The total body of chlorella immunity science demonstrates that chlorella is a useful tool to boost immunity, especially to offset stressors that are depressing immunity.  It helps shift the immune system into a more efficient response, one that reduces allergy potential while it protects the body from problems.
Those with stubborn allergies may wish to see if higher doses of chlorella can help them through problematic times.  The antihistamine properties of chlorella warrant consideration for use along with other natural antihistamines, such as quercetin and grape seed extract.

Many uses for Hydrogen Peroxide

I came across this information from Ready Store and thought it worthy to share.

Hydrogen peroxide can be a great tool in your emergency pack. It has hundreds of uses that can help you clean and disinfect in any situation.
Hydrogen peroxide has the chemical property
H2O2
It is a strong oxidizer and is often used as a bleach or cleaning agent. You can also use it to whiten clothes, fight infections, make your own toothpaste, etc. Check out these ideas below on how you can use hydrogen peroxide for multiple purposes around your home.
Purchasing Hydrogen Peroxide
When you’re purchasing hydrogen peroxide, you have a few different options. Hydrogen peroxide comes in a few different grades, the most common being 3.5% Pharmaceutical grade. This is sold in your local drug stores and supermarket and should not be ingested.
6% grade is used in beauty shops to color hair and shouldn’t be used internally. Higher grades like 30-32% are used to clean electronics and cars.
35% grade is the only grade that is approved for internal use. It’s used in the production of eggs, cheese and other food items.
The only other grade higher than 35% is 90% and is used as an oxygen source for rocket fuel! Ya, don’t eat that either.
Remember that using items over again and finding multiple uses is a great way to save money and help you become more self-reliant and self-sufficient.
Whiten Clothes
Add a cup of peroxide to your laundry as they wash. It gets rid of stains in clothes and carpet. Just pour directly onto the spot, let it sit for a few minutes and then rub and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
Foot Fungus
Have a nasty itch on your feet? Hydrogen peroxide can help. Simply spray a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water on them every night and let dry.
Infected Cuts
Soak the cut in a mixture of 3-5% hydrogen peroxide for five to 10 minutes several times a day. People have reported that soaking their wounds in hydrogen peroxide has healed gangrene, boils, and skin infections.
Sinus Infections
A tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide added to 1 cup of water (non-chlorinated) can be used as a nasal spray. For more severe sinus infections, increase the amount of hydrogen peroxide in the mixture.
Toothpaste & Mouth Care
Hydrogen peroxide is a great tool for mouth care. You can use it to create mouthwashes, relieve toothaches and make your own toothpaste. Start with a bit of baking soda and slowly add hydrogen peroxide until it creates a paste. Hydrogen peroxide is antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal, so it makes a very efficient toothpaste. However, some people have reported that the hydrogen peroxide reacts with amalgam fillings in their mouth, so be careful.
Food Cleaner
Some people add ¼ cup hydrogen peroxide to a full sink of cold water and allow their vegetables to soak and clean before preparation. You can also rinse your meat off before cooking.
Clean Mold
Use a hydrogen peroxide spray to wipe up mold in the fridge or in your house so that it doesn’t spread. Since hydrogen peroxide is anti-fungal and antibacterial, it should stop the mold in its tracks!
Your Ideas?
What have you used hydrogen peroxide for? Comment below and tell us what you’ve used the miracle liquid for.

Natural Flu Remedies

I came across this and wanted to pass it on...
Natural Remedies for Flu
The flu is a viral infection easily spread by droplets from the nose, throat, and lungs. We spread the virus from the day before symptoms appear. The virus is then washed out of the body through mucus production for about 7-10 days by sneezing and coughing.
Millions of people in the United States get the flu each year. Most people will recover completely in about one to two weeks. Since influenza is caused by a virus, antibiotics have no effect on the infection.
Whole food probiotics provide nutrients and beneficial microbials to balance the gut. The gut is 70-80% of our immune system.
Immune Boosting Foods:
... and Epsom salt baths.
Infection” is the body healing itself. The Flu is treated with rest and fluids.
Homeopathic “Cold Calm can help to relieve symptoms of sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion and minor sore throat. Homeopathic "Oscillococcinum" can help to relieve symptoms of feeling run down, headache, body aches, chills and fever.
Chicken soup has been documented to shorten the duration of a virus. Fever reducers lengthen the duration of viral illness. Master Tonicis awesome, potent and healing!
How to Support the Body To Heal:
Avoid:• Alcohol • Allergens • Dairy • Smoking • Stress • Sugar • Toxins
Garlic and honey are a natural anti-viral and anti-bacterial and work well to address infections. Just chop 6 cloves of raw (peeled) garlic, place the garlic in a jar and pour (raw) honey over it. Steep for at least 3-4 hours; give one teaspoon every hour as needed.
Alternately, onions, apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, or cayenne pepper can be added to honey for the antiviral, antibacterial and immune boosting benefits. The honey syrup can be made and stored unrefrigerated for up to 3 months.
Bone broth is easy. Roast a chicken, put the carcass in a pot of water, and simmer for 1-2 days. Strain, use as soup, or for cooking rice, pasta, gravy or drink it straight.
Whole Food Probiotics
Probiotics help strengthen the immune system by balancing your gut with good bacteria. Eat probiotic rich foods even after symptoms are gone (for prevention). Fermented foods, such as kefir and yogurt, are easy, inexpensive and healthy options.
1. Purchase Real Kefir grains, inexpensively.
2. Buy 100% juice, organic grape works great and is delicious.
3. Pour equal amounts of water and juice into a jar and add the kefir grains. Cover loosely with the lid.
4. Store in a cool, dark place, for 24-72 hours. (cupboard)
6. Twist cap regularly to release the carbonation build-up.
7. Strain out kefir grains and store kefir in fridge. Drink a glass every day. The grains can be reused several times.
Be Healthy!!
